A place for all seasons.

The Finistere region is still undiscovered by tourists in many areas, because of this the small towns and villages are open for business all year as the shops, café’s, restaurants and markets cater mainly for the locals and tourists are made welcome and encouraged to experience the French way of life when they arrive.  So it is an all year round destination region.

NOVEMBER/DECEMBER

Autumn is late arriving in Brittany , as the summer days disappear the trees turn yellow, orange and gold, a site to behold in the Armorique National park which surrounds us. Drive around the country lanes or enjoy woodland walks to experience the breathtaking scenery. (closer than Canada !).  At this time of year the shops are full of interesting Xmas gifts and the festive spirit is everywhere.  Food and wine in France is taken very seriously and this is the time of year to indulge in the food  fare’s, wine tasting and Christmas markets. Take advantage of cheap Ferry crossings, your chance to stock up for Christmas with good wine in all supermarkets from 2 euros per bottle.

JANUARY/FEBRUARY

Your chance to take a post Christmas break away from all the madness and retreat to one of our cosy apartments.  We do short breaks or longer stays. Take time, to reflect on the past year and maybe make plans for the future. Have a lazy breakfast, which we provide provisions for, then take a drive to one of the medieval towns such as Quimper, Morlaix, or Carhaix, indulge in a long lunch at one of the restaurants, a chance to take in some of the fabulous shops where the sales are on in January and snap up some French cloths at bargain prices.  A gentle drive back where you can indulge in a warm spa bath, enjoy a video or DVD from our free library and then supper, with good wine (supermarket are everywhere full of tempting food) in front of your log burning fire.  What more could you ask for this time of year.  A super treat for your Valentine or a Christmas gift for someone special. (SEE OUR PRESENTATION LETTER). Book early to get good deals on flights from your local airport.

MARCH/APRIL

Spring comes early here and the trees start to burst into life once again, mingling with the pine trees tall and graceful, reminding us why this area is so special and why it is being preserved as a conservation area.  A haven for wild life, enjoyed by sightseers, walkers, cyclist, anglers, and birdwatchers.  A time when many people start house hunting for that holiday retreat, or that more permanent move.  We have contact with a local French English speaking agent and we can offer help and advice from our own experiences.

MAY/JUNE

Relax into the French way of life and enjoy the slower pace.  Enjoy the surrounding countryside, quiet country lanes, weekly street markets where you can buy your cheese’s local grown vegetables and salad.  Fresh fish from our local supermarkets, or take a short drive to one of our costal ports and buy from the fishermen as they land their daily catch straight from the sea.  Or drive just a short distance and eat in one our of our local restaurants. (We provide a recommended list and directions,) where some English is spoken.

JULY/AUGUST

A busier time for many holiday resorts which cater mainly for the tourists, not a problem we have here.  We have created two wonderful apartments where peace and tranquillity are guaranteed.  Our nearest beaches around half an hours drive, are free from hoards of visitors, some days you can have much of the beach to yourselves.  If you follow our route maps you will find undiscovered coves and beaches where you can soak up the sun.  The more adventurous can indulge in water sports at our more lively coastal resorts all within easy reach. The roads around us are still quiet, no traffic jams, or problems waiting for parking spaces. (parking here is free except in some bigger cities).  Long summer evenings where you can relax with a glass of wine in your private garden, you have your own barbeque where you can cook supper if you wish.

SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER

As summer stretches into autumn your chance to experience that later holiday and still have some summer days.

Cheaper travel, and plenty to see and do.  We have lists of local fetes, food fare’s and village festivals, many of which take place around this time of year.

We hope we have tempted you, please e mail us if you have any special requests or if you need further details and we will do our best to make sure your holiday with us is truly special.
